Mr. Toppin is a partner at Kennedy, Toppin, & Sutherland, L.L.P. Mr. Toppin's practice focuses on the representation of financial institutions throughout the United States on a wide variety of corporate, banking, securities and regulatory matters including mergers and acquisitions, debt and equity securities offerings, holding company formations, de novo charters, regulatory compliance, and Subchapter S corporation elections.
Mr. Toppin also serves as the Executive Director of the Subchapter S Bank Association and is a frequent speaker at the Association's Annual Conference. He has authored a number of articles on the various aspects of Subchapter S taxation for financial institutions.
He is a member of the American Bar Association Banking Law Subcommittee, Texas Bar Association, San Antonio Bar Association and the San Antonio Young Lawyers Association.
Mr. Toppin received his B.B.A. in Finance from Texas Tech University in 2001 and J.D. from St. Mary's University School of Law in 2007, where he served as a Comment Editor for the St. Mary's Law Journal.
He is admitted to practice law in the state of Texas.
